'What is the role of company values and how can they support business sustainability?'

The Net Impact topic questions the role of company values and how can they support business sustainability.

Corporate values are a commonplace piece of the strategic jigsaw ('mission, vision, values') and they are often prominently displayed within organisations, feature on company websites and in company literature. Most large organisations have an espoused set of values. These range from one word statements such as ‘respect’, ‘integrity’ and ‘commercialism’ (The Crown Estate) to phrases such as ‘no one tries harder for customers’ (Tesco), and ‘Respect others and value their diversity’ (National Grid).

The process of deriving a set of organisational values requires time, sponsorship and engagement from the senior leaders of an organisation.

This session questions why leaders are prepared to make this commitment; what roles do values actually play in an organisation? Would they be missed if they ceased to exist? How do values align with strategy and sustainability?
