Friday 31 March saw the conclusion of an EPSRC funded Pump Priming Project, which aimed to bring together current learning in data science and supply chain simulation.
The work, headed by Prof Alison McKay (Mechanical Engineering and Socio-Technical Centre (STC)) and Owen Johnson (Computer Science and LIDA), collected data that enabled the mapping of an engineering supply chain, and piloted the creation of a number of simulation tools that enabled the visualisation of supplier design capabilities.
The project culminated in a workshop, facilitated by researcher Lauren Machon (STC), and attended by members of the wider academic community alongside industry representatives. The outputs of the workshop have given the team valuable insights into future research directions and opportunities.
