Nicola Smith, Teaching Fellow and Director of MSc Management, hosted a professional development workshop and alumni networking event in Taipei, Taiwan on 17th February 2017.
Her workshop focused on Emotional Intelligence and its increasing importance to professional success. Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand how your own emotions and actions can affect those around you, considering self awareness, self regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. The workshop explored ways to develop working relationships, and how by enhancing your own emotional intelligence, you can become a more effective leader and member of a team.
The workshop was followed by informal networking and refreshments. The event attracted over 40 alumni, who reminisced about their time at Leeds, and made business connections. Nicola was supported by the Leeds Taiwan Association, President and Vice President, Sanders Chen and Orsino Hu.
