Ideas in Practice is a free seminar series bringing together business people, policymakers and academics.
The events take place in Leeds, London and online where we discuss important topics and share ideas to help companies and public bodies both in the UK and globally.

Launch of the Leeds Index of Platform Labour Protest

Please note that this is a hybrid event, hosted in person at etc.venues County Hall, Belvedere Road, London.
We will be launching the Leeds Index and exploring to what extent it can be used by the public and other academics.
The Leeds Index is developed by academics from the University of Leeds, based at the Economic Research Social Council (ESRC) Digital Futures at Work Research Centre (Digit) and the Centre for Employment Relations Innovation and Change (CERIC).
Recent events
Implementation of gene editing into the food system

Thursday 26 January 2023.
Please note that this is an in-person event, hosted at One Great George Street, 1 Great George Street, London.
We will discuss increasing public acceptance of gene-edited foods, communicating gene editing to the public, and what transparency and labelling of gene-edited foods may mean.
Two projects funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC)/Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Leeds University Business School (LUBS), respectively, have informed the research presented at this event.
‘Ideas in Practice’ Supply Chain Summit 2022: Realising the value of digitalisation

Please note that this is an in-person event, hosted at Squire Patton Boggs, 6 Wellington Place, Leeds.
We will be addressing the opportunities and challenges of the digitalisation of UK supply chains.
This is the sixth annual Supply Chain Summit, held by Leeds University Business School in partnership with Squire Patton Boggs.

We will be exploring the applications, challenges and knowledge gaps in the Digital Fashion Industry.
The event is sponsored by the University of Leeds Challenge Fund project 'Transformational Impact of Digital Platforms Ecosystems on Global Value Chains accelerated by COVID-19'.

Ideas in Practice supports the Business School's mission and values of producing research that makes an impact on society, business and the economy. We hope the events will:
- Lead to new collaborations to do research, e.g. as part of a grant application to a research funding council
- Inspire discussions about business and economic challenges and opportunities
- Bring leading experts from around the world in to contact with business and policy audiences
- Create a forum for bringing together different perspectives on a particular issue of current interest.
