Tell us a bit about yourself, your background and what made you choose the University of Leeds?
I’m a business strategist and founder of Mindset2Market, passionate about helping new entrepreneurs turn ideas into structured plans. I chose the University of Leeds because of its reputation for combining academic excellence with real-world enterprise opportunities. The university’s focus on innovation and entrepreneurship aligned perfectly with my ambition to build a career that blends creativity, business strategy, and impact.
Why did you choose to study your particular course?
The MSc Management and Entrepreneurship course offered the ideal mix of strategic management, research, and entrepreneurial thinking. I wanted a programme that went beyond theory, one that equipped me to understand business dynamics, develop ideas from concept to execution, and grow ventures sustainably. The course promised that balance, and it delivered.
What aspects of the course did you enjoy the most?
I particularly enjoyed the Dissertation Research module, as it allowed me to explore my growing interest in the entrepreneurial mindset and behaviour. Conducting independent research helped me develop critical thinking, data analysis, and academic writing skills, all of which now inform my approach to strategy and decision-making in business.
What does Leeds as a city have to offer students?
Leeds is a vibrant, diverse, and entrepreneurial hub. There’s always something happening, from business meetups to creative events, and the city’s welcoming atmosphere makes it easy to feel at home. Home student, although stayed in Preston
What would you say about the learning and the career support facilities in your academic School or Faculty, and at the University in general?
The support at Leeds was outstanding. Lecturers were approachable and genuinely invested in our success, while the Careers Centre and Enterprise Hub offered tailored guidance, networking opportunities, and mentoring. Those resources played a huge role in shaping my career path and continue to support me as part of the alum community.
What have you been doing since finishing your studies?
Since completing my MSc in Management and Entrepreneurship, I’ve been growing my venture Mindset2Market, which helps first-time entrepreneurs turn ideas into structured businesses. Alongside this, I'm working in business development at myPOS, applying strategic planning, marketing, and leadership skills.
What company are you working for, what is your role, and what does it involve?
I currently work as a business development executive, focused on building client relationships, identifying opportunities, and supporting company growth. The role combines analytical thinking with communication and creativity.
How do you think the skills and knowledge you developed at Leeds whilst studying your Masters helped with your career?
Leeds gave me both the mindset and the tools to thrive in business. Modules in entrepreneurship and management taught me how to approach challenges critically and strategically.
Now that you’ve graduated, what would you say to students thinking about studying your course, do you believe your investment into the course was worthwhile for your career?
I’d say go for it, it’s an investment that pays off in clarity, confidence, and opportunity. The course helped me bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world entrepreneurship, and it continues to shape my approach to my career and business today.
