Tell us a bit about yourself.
With a background in International Accounting and Business Management, I was eager to take my studies further and challenge myself on a global stage. The UK’s one-year master’s is a perfect experience ! It meant I could immerse myself fully and achieve a world-class degree in a short, focused time. Leeds caught my heart immediately.Leeds Business School is not only academically prestigious but also alive with energy, diversity, and ambition. I wanted to be part of a place where ideas cross borders, and Leeds offered exactly that.
What company are you working for, what is your role, and what does it involve?
I currently work as a study abroad consultant at an international education consultancy. My role involves guiding students through every stage of their academic pathway, from planning and preparing strong applications to navigating the challenges of studying overseas. Beyond the technical side of applications, I dedicate time to listening to each student’s story, understanding their ambitions, and helping them find the best opportunities abroad. It is a role that is both strategic and deeply personal, and I feel privileged to walk alongside them during such a transformative stage of their lives.
Why did you choose to study your particular course?
I loved how alive the course felt. Case studies were not just assignments and they were windows into real business dilemmas. Through case studies, I learned lessons no textbook could ever capture. The final project, where we worked directly with a UK company, was unforgettable: I wasn’t just a student anymore, I was a consultant. And beyond all the projects, the course taught me to think differently. Critical thinking became a daily habit, shaping not only how I work, but how I live.
What aspects of the course did you enjoy the most?
Leeds is a city that feels just the right size, being exciting yet small enough to feel like home. Everything I needed was just a short walk away, from the buzzing campus to the vibrant city centre. Compared to London, life was much more affordable, which gave me the freedom to truly enjoy my time there. As an international student, I never felt out of place. Leeds welcomed me with open arms, and I quickly found my rhythm between studies, friendships, and exploring life in the UK.
What does Leeds as a city have to offer students?
Leeds is a vibrant yet manageable city that feels tailor made for students. The campus is just a short 10–15 minute walk from the city centre, making daily life very convenient. Compared to larger cities like London, the cost of living in Leeds is much more affordable, which allowed me to focus on my studies without unnecessary financial stress. As an international student, I found Leeds welcoming, safe, and easy to adapt to an ideal environment for both learning and living.
What would you say about the learning and the career support facilities in your academic School or Faculty and at the University in general?
The support I received at Leeds went far beyond lectures. Career advisors and workshops gave me the confidence to picture my future more clearly, while networking events connected me with people and opportunities I had only dreamed about. Those experiences still resonate today. As a study abroad senior consultant, I often share with my students that my time at Leeds was more than just a degree. It was a turning point that shaped the professional and person I’ve become.
What have you been doing since finishing your studies?
After completing my master’s degree at Leeds, I entered the international education consulting industry and have been working in this field for many years. Currently, my main focus has been supporting students, just as I once was, in applying to world-renowned universities. Over time I have successfully helped hundreds of students receive offers from top institutions worldwide. Each success reminds me of my own journey and motivates me to continue guiding others toward their dreams.
How do you think the skills and knowledge you developed at Leeds whilst studying your Masters helped with your career? Did you create any industry links or gain any experiences that were beneficial?
My time at Leeds equipped me with skills that continue to be useful in my career. Through case studies I learned how to analyse situations quickly and critically, which now helps me understand students’ needs and develop the right application strategies. The consulting project was especially valuable, as it gave me the chance to work with real clients, communicate effectively, and deliver practical solutions. These experiences strengthened my confidence and helped me build a professional mindset, which has been essential in establishing trust with both students and parents.
Now that you’ve graduated, what would you say to students thinking about studying your course, do you believe your investment into the course was worthwhile for your career?
The course was without doubt one of the best investments I have made for myself. It did more than provide knowledge, it reshaped the way I think and the way I approach challenges. To students who are considering this path, I would say that if you are ready to commit and work hard, Leeds will give you the tools, opportunities, and network that can transform your career. Even after many years, I still draw on what I learned there, and it continues to open doors for both me and the students I support today.
