Tell us about your degree - why did you choose it?
I chose the MSc Business Analytics and Decision Sciences to enhance my ability to make data-driven decisions and apply analytical methods to real business challenges. My previous experience as a Business Analyst further strengthened my passion for using data to generate meaningful business insights. The course’s blend of technical skills and practical application, together with the international reputation of Leeds University Business School, made it the ideal choice to support both my academic and career aspirations.
What did you enjoy the most about your course – what were your course highlights? For example, the facilities, staff, peers, course content etc.
I valued the practical and collaborative nature of the course, particularly the opportunity to work on projects that applied theory to real-world business challenges. The guidance of academic staff, access to outstanding facilities such as the 24-hour library, and the chance to learn alongside a diverse group of international peers made the experience both enriching and inspiring.
What did you enjoy most about your life as a student at the University of Leeds? Did you get involved in any activities outside of your studies that had an impact on your experience here, or your personal development?
I thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant student life at Leeds, which offered countless opportunities to get involved beyond my academic studies. Joining societies such as the Business Society and Leeds Community Consulting, along with taking part in networking events, enabled me to build lasting friendships, develop leadership skills, and engage with diverse cultures. A particular highlight was leading a team of 10 students on a consulting project, which was both challenging and rewarding. The supportive campus environment made my time at Leeds an enjoyable and enriching experience.
How did you find adjusting to living and studying in the UK? Did the university offer support or services that you found helpful? Can you offer any advice?
While being away from family and adapting to a new country was initially challenging, the University’s comprehensive orientation programmes and dedicated student services provided excellent support. The friendly campus community and strong international student networks helped make the transition smooth, and the guidance of a staff mentor throughout my studies was valuable. For new international students, I recommend approaching the experience with an open mind, getting involved in activities early, and making the most of the resources available.
What professional skills and experience did you gain during your time at Leeds University Business School? What support did you get to help to develop these skills, and with your overall career and employability?
During my time at Leeds University Business School, I developed strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills through both coursework and group projects. One of the most memorable experiences was a sustainable business challenge in collaboration with the Co-op, where I worked with students from different courses and year groups. This opportunity gave me fresh perspectives on problem-solving and highlighted the value of combining diverse skillsets to achieve a common goal. In addition, the free career workshops, employer events, and support from the Careers Centre were invaluable in building my confidence and preparing me for future roles.
How did your time at Leeds prepare you for the future?
My time at Leeds was transformative for both my personal and professional journey. The MSc in Business Analytics and Decision Sciences not only equipped me with the technical expertise to approach challenges with confidence but also instilled in me the importance of teamwork, resilience, and adaptability. Being part of such a diverse and welcoming community made me feel at home, even while far from home, and the friendships and experiences I gained continue to inspire me today. Leeds gave me more than a degree — it gave me lasting memories, personal growth, and the foundation to pursue my future with confidence.
How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School? Have there been any notable highlights?
Since graduating from Leeds, my career has developed in ways I could never have imagined when I first began my MSc. I started as a Senior Analyst at Asda and have since progressed to Insight and Analytics Manager, applying the skills and confidence gained at the Business School every day. Remaining in Leeds has also given me the opportunity to give back by organising sessions for University of Leeds students – helping them understand how businesses operate and connecting them with colleagues for networking opportunities. It is incredibly rewarding to see my journey come full circle, and I am proud to support the next generation of students while continuing to grow professionally.
What are your ambitions for the future?
Looking ahead, I aspire to continue developing as a leader in analytics and insight, taking on projects that drive meaningful impact in business decision-making. I am equally committed to supporting and mentoring students and early-career professionals, sharing the lessons I have learned along the way. Ultimately, my goal is to balance professional growth with giving back – helping others build their skills and confidence, just as I was supported during my time at the University of Leeds.
What was your biggest highlight of studying at Leeds? (For example, friendships made, confidence in your abilities, or any single event that you will always remember)

Collaborating on challenging projects, supporting one another through deadlines, and celebrating our successes created memories that will stay with me for life. These experiences not only strengthened my confidence but also played a key role in shaping who I am today, both personally and professionally.
