Originally from Birmingham, Barry Hooper joined the Civil Service in November 2015, having held a number of senior posts within the financial services, telecoms and automotive sectors over the past 25 years. In Barry’s current roles as Chief Commercial Officer for the Ministry of Justice, he is responsible for £3.2bn of spend across over 4500 contacts. His responsibilities include the end to end commercial process from commissioning, sourcing, supplier management and third party risk. Barry is also responsible for the operation of the department’s national distribution centre and fleet engineering services. Barry also plays a key role in the Government Commercial Function by helping to influence and develop the procurement profession throughout the entire public sector.
