Dr Richard Saundry

Richard was educated at the University of Leeds were he studied Economics with Industrial Relations and went on to complete an MA by research in Economics. He then worked for the National Union of Mineworkers for six years before returning to Leeds where he worked as a Research Fellow on two ESRC funded research projects which examined employment and regulation in the Port Transport and Television industries.

Richards research interests include: Social Capital, Networks and Interest Representation; Disciplinary Procedures and Employee Representation in UK Workplaces; and, Occupational Identity and Trade Union Mergers. He has recently completed two externally funded projects. First, a project for the Department for Trade and Industry (2005/6) entitled, Employee Representation in Grievance and Disciplinary Matters – Making a Difference. Second, an ESRC funded project (2004-5) entitled, ‘Informal Networks and the Representation of Workers’ Interests’.  He is an Editorial Board member of Work, Employment and Society.
