Tell us about your degree - why did you choose it? What elements of the degree inspired you to study it?

I chose to study the MSc Senior Leadership because I felt it would support me to develop the well-rounded knowledge needed for being a leader in a large organisation. With my goal of founding and managing my own enterprise one day, these skills will be invaluable to helping me along that journey.

What is the best part of your studies? What are you enjoying the most?

There are so many different aspects I enjoy about the programme. I find the module and assessment structure very motivational. You are first introduced to modules through individual study and a personal assignment, then larger lectures reinforce what you’ve learnt, and give you a chance to clarify your thought processes with a bigger assignment following that. I have also particularly enjoyed making the most of the networking opportunities that the on-campus teaching provides us with.

What are your career aspirations? Do you think the experience and skills you will gain on your course will help you in your future career plans? In what way?

My short term aspirations include moving to our office in Toronto to develop the team over there. This has already been discussed with my employer, and I believe the skills I have advanced on the Senior Leadership programme will ensure I can develop a very strong team over there. I am confident that further opportunities will continue to come up and that I will be able to make the most of them as a leader.

How do you feel your employer and / or business has benefited from the degree?

My employer has benefited from my increased knowledge on how leaders think. I am already having tactical conversations with people at work about changing the way we see things and changing the way we work - to increase productivity, staff morale and efficiency.

What is your impression / experience of the facilities, the staff and your peers?

The course professors are clearly very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their subjects and this comes across in the face to face lectures. The University staff are all very helpful and keen to see you progress, always being on hand if you have any queries.

Would you recommend the Business School to others who are considering studying here?

I would definitely recommend Leeds University Business School to anyone who is keen and dedicated to improving themselves and looking to take the next step in their career or their life. The course has many practical takeaways for both your professional and personal life and this is a great way to continue your learning.
