What is the Future Leaders Programme?
Designed for emerging and future leaders, these participants are the driving force behind growth — eager to develop the skills, confidence, and strategic mindset to lead with impact.
Over the course of 8 weeks, this blended learning experience equips participants to:
- Strengthen leadership capacity and decision-making skills
- Tackle business challenges with resilience and creativity
- Explore diverse leadership styles that unlock team performance
- Foster innovation and manage change with confidence
Programme Format
The programme includes:
- 3 in-person sessions of immersive learning
- 2 interactive webinars with expert facilitators
- Peer group learning for real-world problem solving
By the end of the programme, each participant will have created a Personal Business Plan — a practical, evolving roadmap to guide their leadership journey, contribute more strategically to the business, and continue their development beyond the classroom.
Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion, marking their achievement and readiness to step up as influential leaders within their business.
Who can take part?
The Future Leaders Programme is aimed at emerging leaders working in SMEs or larger businesses from any sector, with up to three years managerial experience. These individuals are currently in, or soon to enter, roles with leadership or management responsibilities over people or resources. Applicants will be showing leadership potential and are needing to develop new leadership skills, knowledge and behaviours to emerge as leaders to take themselves and their businesses to the next level.
What is the cost?
£2,400 per participant for an 8-week programme.

Designed to be manageable alongside full-time work, Future Leaders is a blended programme over 8 weeks, with 3 sessions in person, 2 webinars and facilitated peer groups.

Course Overview
Module 1: Leading Self
This module focuses on cultivating the foundational qualities of effective leadership by developing greater self-awareness, resilience, and personal growth. Participants will explore their individual leadership styles, values, and strengths, and learn how to manage their energy and time under pressure. Through reflective practice and goal setting, learners will prepare for the transition from colleague to leader, gaining insight into the challenges and opportunities that come with leadership roles in business. The module encourages a deep understanding of personal development as a continuous journey, empowering participants to lead with authenticity and purpose.

- Time and energy management
- Transitioning from colleague to leader

Module 2: Leading Others
This module explores the essential skills required to lead and engage teams effectively within the dynamic context of small, medium-sized and larger businesses. Participants will examine the impact of communication styles on team engagement, team performance and learn how to balance the dual demands of inspiring others while managing accountability. The module introduces practical techniques for building high-performing teams, including coaching and mentoring approaches tailored to business environments. Learners will also develop strategies for navigating conflict—whether interpersonal or related to competing priorities and resources, enhancing their ability to lead with clarity, empathy, and confidence.

Module 3: Leading the Business
This module equips participants with the strategic mindset and practical tools needed to lead their business with clarity and impact. Focusing on the challenges and opportunities within their business, learners will develop the ability to analyse business environments, identify growth opportunities, and make informed decisions that balance short-term demands with long-term ambitions. Through the application of strategic thinking frameworks, participants will learn to align team activities with broader business goals. The module culminates in the creation of a personal leadership manifesto—an actionable plan that reflects each participant’s vision, priorities, and commitment to driving sustainable business success.

Meet Our Academic Expert
Rebecca Padgett, Senior Teaching Fellow, Leeds University Business School
Rebecca Padgett is an energetic, learner-focused educator dedicated to uniting, equipping and inspiring current and future leaders. Her work bridges the gap between academia and industry, with a focus on enterprise, innovation and growth, employability, and experiential learning.
With extensive experience leading undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education, Rebecca has overseen programmes ranging from small specialist modules to large, multi-campus cohorts. She was one of only two academics globally selected to deliver leadership training for the FIFA World Cup 2021 and served as Academic Programme Director for the £3 million WYCA Innovative Entrepreneurs Programme.
Before academia, Rebecca held senior consultancy roles across the sports, leisure and hospitality sectors, operating at board and ministerial levels. She is known for her collaborative, results-driven leadership style—and for bringing energy, purpose and a sense of fun to every challenge.
Meet Our Business Coach
Jo Smith, Founder and MD, The Goalgetter Organisation Ltd
Jo Smith is a highly qualified and experienced executive coach, with a background in HR and business leadership. She holds a BSc in Economics, a degree in Psychology, a PGCE, and is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD as well as a member of the BPS. Jo is a long-standing leading member of the Association for Coaching being an Accredited Master Executive Coach and Accredited Master Coach Supervisor.
Jo has held several senior positions in the corporate world including being a HR Director at Arla Foods and has a proven track record of working with senior leaders from a variety of sectors, including high performance sport, leading global academic institutions, owner entrepreneurs and family-owned businesses across public and private sector clients.
As a highly qualified and experienced executive coach, Jo has vast experience of working with owner entrepreneurs from Start-Up to £100m turnover, with the skills and knowledge to guide her clients to success and in 2023, she won the national Help to Grow Mentoring Award for Innovation. Her extensive experience is underpinned by her academic background, and commitment to professional development, her executive coaching clients are guaranteed the best possible support and guidance on their journeys.
