The Centre for Advanced Studies in Finance (CASIF) was established in 2005 and has grown into one of the largest PhD groups in Leeds University Business School with around 20 full-time PhD researchers studying a diverse range of subjects. Our PhD candidates come to CASIF from all over the world including Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. The geographic diversity of our cohort contributes to the vibrancy of our research community and the quality of our output. Our students produce world-class research across a number of different themes covering credit, banking and investment; asset pricing and financial markets; behavioural finance; historical perspectives in accounting and finance; ownership; governance; performance; market-based accounting and decision making. Designated a Silver Peak of Excellence’ in recognition of our innovative research programme, at CASIF we are proud to provide world-class resources to support PhD studies. We offer a comprehensive range of databases and outstanding IT infrastructure including a 400-core AMD Opteron Cluster ‘Everest’, part of the White Rose Grid. CASIF continues to evolve and the directors, supervisors and professional support staff are continuously striving to improve the student experience and training provided to ensure that every CASIF PhD student graduates with skills and knowledge that will last a lifetime.
