CASIF Doctoral Conference showcases outstanding doctoral research in finance

On 15 May the Centre for Advanced Studies in Finance (CASIF) hosted its annual Doctoral Conference.
The conference brought together postgraduate researchers (PGRs) and academic staff for a day of scholarly exchange, collaboration, and community building.
The event provided a dynamic platform for second-, third-, and selected fourth-year doctoral researchers to present their ongoing work across a wide range of finance-related topics, including banking, corporate finance, and accounting.
The event was chaired by CASIF Directors Professor Kevin Keasey, Dr Danilo Mascia, and Dr Effie Symitsi.
Throughout the day, presenters engaged in dialogue with peers and faculty, receiving valuable feedback to help shape the next stages of their research. Attendees highlighted the positive and collegial atmosphere as a standout feature of the event.
This was a great opportunity to present my work in a supportive setting. The feedback I received was incredibly constructive and will help me refine my research as I move forward.
Dr Danilo Mascia, Deputy Director of CASIF and co-organiser of the conference, emphasised the importance of such initiatives in enhancing the research culture within the School: “We are proud to support our doctoral researchers through initiatives like the CASIF Conference. Events like this not only enhance the student experience but also contribute meaningfully to the research environment at the Business School.”
Dr Effie Symitsi, also a Deputy Director and co-organiser, added: “The conference reflects our commitment to nurturing high-quality research and building a strong sense of scholarly community. It is inspiring to see the diversity and ambition of our doctoral students' work.”
Looking ahead, the CASIF team plans to establish the Doctoral Conference as an annual fixture in the academic calendar. Feedback from this year’s participants will inform future training workshops and research activities, further strengthening the doctoral research culture within CASIF and across the Business School.
