Why did you choose to study this degree? 

I was always interested in analytics and how it applies to solving real-world problems at businesses. This course did not just cover the basics of analytical tools but placed a special emphasis on how decision-making works in real life, and that was the key part that drew me towards this course. 

What did you enjoy most about your course? 

The course gave me a perfect blend of classes, seminars, and opportunities outside the classroom to learn and grow. My lecturers were extremely supportive and approachable and I’m in touch with many of them today. I also got the opportunity to go on a part-funded trip to Antwerp to understand how the concepts we are taught in the classroom have been applied to solve real-world problems in the city of Antwerp. 

What did you enjoy most about student life at Leeds? 

I was a part of numerous societies, such as the debate club, community consulting, and quadball. There were many opportunities to enjoy life outside the classroom with other students, and many of them led to me making friends and learning about new topics. I was able to go on a week-long trip to Antwerp with the Business School along with 19 other students, which gave me some of my most cherished memories. 

How did you find adjusting to living and studying in the UK? 

It can seem overwhelming at first but it was fairly easy for me to adjust to life in the UK. The pre-departure meetings and some of the websites helped me prepare for some of the challenges I faced, and once I landed I was able to reach out to the University for help and support when I faced any difficulties. My advice to any students preparing for their time at Leeds is to not be afraid to reach out and ask for help. The people at the University, and the people of Leeds as a whole, are extremely friendly and helpful, and there is no question too small or stupid, they want to make you feel at home. 

How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School? 

I was fortunate to land a role as a Junior Business Intelligence Analyst before I graduated. I’ve been working in my current role for 6 months now. I’d like to continue along this trajectory and land a more senior role in analytics in the future. 

Would you recommend Leeds University Business School? 

I’d highly recommend the University of Leeds to others. Most of my friends at Leeds are starting to settle into their careers now and the University has helped them prepare for it in one way or another. If you're coming to Leeds, I’d advise you to make the most of your time here and take every opportunity, whether that is participating in the lectures and seminars or by joining societies and activities at the Leeds University Union.
