Why did you choose to study this degree? 

Coming from a technical background, I was looking for a programme that would broaden my perspective beyond technology and help me understand how organisations make decisions, drive innovation, and create long-term value. I chose to pursue an MSc in Management with an aim to build a strong foundation in business, while developing the strategic and leadership skills needed to thrive in a global business environment. 

The programme offered a well-rounded curriculum that combined theory with business challenges, giving me the opportunity to explore areas such as strategy, marketing, operations, and organisational behaviour from both academic and practical perspectives. 

What did you enjoy most about your course? 

What I enjoyed most about the programme was the diversity of perspectives it brought together. Studying alongside classmates from different countries, industries, and academic backgrounds meant that every discussion, group project, and case study offered new ways of thinking.  

The course content struck a great balance between theory and practical application. I particularly enjoyed analysing real business cases, working on collaborative projects, and exploring how different business functions come together to shape organisational success. These experiences encouraged critical thinking and strengthened my ability to approach problems from both strategic and operational perspectives. 

The faculty were incredibly supportive and approachable, always encouraging curiosity and thoughtful discussion rather than simply focusing on textbook answers. Their industry knowledge and willingness to share practical insights made the learning experience even more engaging. 

What did you enjoy most about student life at Leeds? 

I really appreciated the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. Meeting classmates and teachers in person made those interactions even more meaningful, and I enjoyed spending time exploring the campus, using the study spaces, and experiencing student life in Leeds. It was truly exceptional. 

Outside my studies, I made a conscious effort to get involved in university life by joining several student clubs and societies. Taking part in travel and day trips allowed me to explore different parts of the UK, while being involved with the Women in Business and Business School societies gave me opportunities to attend events, connect with like-minded students, and learn from industry professionals. These experiences helped me build confidence, expand my network, and make the most of my time at Leeds beyond the classroom. 

How did you find adjusting to living and studying in the UK? 

Moving to the UK to pursue my master's degree was both exciting and a significant adjustment. Like many international students, I had to adapt to a new education system, a different culture, and being away from home, family, and friends. Beginning my studies during the pandemic added another layer of uncertainty, but it also taught me to be independent, resourceful, and open to new experiences. 

The University of Leeds made that transition much smoother through its welcoming community and the support available to international students. From orientation activities and academic guidance to career support and wellbeing services, I always felt there were resources available whenever I needed them. As in any new environment, taking the initiative to seek out these opportunities made a real difference. 

What professional skills and experience did you gain? 

My time at Leeds University Business School helped me develop a combination of technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills that have been invaluable throughout my career. While the MSc Management programme provided a strong understanding of core business disciplines, it also challenged me to think strategically, analyse complex problems, and communicate ideas with clarity and confidence. 

The collaborative nature of the course played an important role in developing my teamwork, leadership, and presentation skills. Working on group projects with students from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds taught me how to navigate different perspectives, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outcome, skills that are essential in today’s global workplace. 

The University's careers and employability support also encouraged me to think proactively about my professional development. From careers resources and employer events to networking opportunities and guidance on interviews and applications, I gained valuable insights into the expectations of the job market and how to present my skills effectively. 

Today, I work as a Software Solutions Consultant. My experience at Leeds gave me the confidence to bridge business and technology, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and approach challenges with both a strategic and practical mindset. 

How did your time at Leeds prepare you for the future? 

Collaborating with peers on real business challenges helped me become more adaptable, culturally aware, and effective at working with diverse teams. These experiences continue to shape the way I build relationships with clients and colleagues in an increasingly global workplace. 

Leeds also reinforced the importance of continuous learning. In today’s fast-moving business and technology landscape, staying curious and embracing change are essential. The habits I developed during my MSc- questioning assumptions, seeking different perspectives, and applying knowledge to practical situations- have helped me grow both professionally and personally. 

How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School? 

Following my MSc, I continued to build my experience in the technology sector, developing my expertise in software solutions, business intelligence, data strategy, and helping my organisation use technology to solve complex business challenges.  

Being the first student to get a job offer in my batch, one of the key milestones in my career has been progressing into a Software Solutions Consultant role in UK, where I work closely with clients and stakeholders to understand their business needs, design effective solutions, and support data-driven decision-making. Over time, I have taken on increasing responsibilities, including leading solution discussions, contributing to proposals and strategic initiatives, delivering presentations, and supporting organisations in achieving their goals. I have been with the company for about 5 years now. 

 I am proud of the journey from being a student exploring new possibilities to becoming a professional who helps bridge the gap between business challenges and technology solutions, enabling AI in the midst. Each step has reinforced the value of continuous growth, adaptability, and the willingness to embrace new opportunities while following my passion. 

What are your ambitions for the future? 

My ambition is to continue growing as a professional and deepen my expertise, while continuing to develop my strategic thinking and leadership capabilities. As technology continues to transform the way we work, I aim to create real value, lead impactful initiatives, and continue building strong relationships with clients and teams across different industries. 

What was your biggest highlight of studying at Leeds? 

I have always been someone who stays curious, enjoys learning, explores new perspectives, and challenges myself to grow, and my time at Leeds gave me the perfect environment to do that. I believe growth often happens when we are pushed beyond what feels familiar.  

One of the most memorable parts of my time at Leeds was building friendships with people who have now become family. Our shared experiences are now treasured memories forever. My biggest takeaway is that university is about much more than the qualification we earn. It is about the people we meet, the experiences we embrace, and the person one becomes along the way. 

Would you recommend Leeds University Business School? 

Yes, I would wholeheartedly recommend the University and the Business School to anyone. I have continued to be an active part of Leeds University Business School still, by mentoring on campus students from time to time. It is refreshing every time I visit the campus and engage with students filled with so much zeal and passion. 

My advice to students would be to approach their time at Leeds with an open mind and a willingness to explore. Do not limit your experience to lectures and assignments alone.  Most importantly, believe in yourself and embrace the journey. Moving to a new place and stepping into an unfamiliar environment can feel challenging at first, but it is often where the greatest personal growth happens. Make the most of your time at Leeds, because it is a unique chapter of life that can shape not only your career, but also who you become.
