Why did you choose to study this degree?

I chose to pursue an MSc in Global Supply Chain Management because, during my Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, I developed a strong interest in how products move from design and manufacturing to customers. Through my coursework and exposure to manufacturing processes, I became interested in areas such as production planning, procurement, inventory management, and operations, and I wanted to understand how these functions work together on a global scale.

Leeds University Business School stood out to me because of its excellent reputation, industry-focused curriculum, and practical approach to learning. The programme offered the opportunity to develop expertise in supply chain strategy, demand planning, logistics, procurement, and operations management while strengthening my analytical and decision-making skills.

What did you enjoy most about your course?

One of the aspects I enjoyed most about the MSc in Global Supply Chain Management was its strong balance between academic theory and practical application. The course went beyond teaching supply chain concepts by encouraging us to analyse real business challenges, evaluate different strategies, and make data-led decisions.

I particularly enjoyed studying modules such as International Business Theory, demand forecasting, procurement, operations management, logistics, inventory management, and Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP). International Business Theory broadened my understanding of how businesses operate across different markets and the strategic, economic, and cultural factors that influence global decision-making.

I also found the business simulation exercises especially valuable. They provided a hands-on learning experience where we worked as teams to make strategic decisions, respond to changing market conditions, and understand the impact of those decisions on business performance. These simulations brought classroom concepts to life and strengthened my ability to think strategically under realistic business scenarios.

What did you enjoy most about student life at Leeds?

I had a great experience with the Leeds University Union. It was inclusive, vibrant, and offered countless opportunities to get involved beyond the classroom. Leeds is a lively, student-friendly city, and one of the highlights of my time there was exploring Yorkshire's beautiful countryside through the Get Out Get Active (GOGA) hikes.”

I was actively involved in several student communities, including the Business School Society, International Business Society, and Tamil Society. I also enjoyed taking part in Swing Dance sessions, which was a fun way to learn a new skill, meet people from different backgrounds, and unwind from academic commitments. In addition, I volunteered as a mentor through the Global Connections Scheme, supporting new international students as they settled into university life.

How did you find adjusting to living and studying in the UK?

Moving to the UK to study was an exciting experience, but like many international students, it took some time to adjust. However, the welcoming and inclusive environment at Leeds University Business School made the transition much smoother.

The University provided excellent support throughout my journey. The international student orientation programme was helpful in introducing me to campus facilities, academic expectations, and life in the UK. The Careers Service offered valuable guidance on CV writing, interview preparation, networking, and career planning, while the Library and Skills@Library workshops helped me strengthen my academic writing, research, and presentation skills. I also found the wellbeing services and personal tutor support reassuring, knowing there was always someone to turn to whenever I needed advice.

How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School?

My career has progressed across healthcare procurement, materials management, and supply chain planning, allowing me to apply my academic knowledge in diverse industries while continuously developing my expertise.

After completing my MSc, I joined Wessex NHS Procurement Limited, where I supported procurement and supply chain operations for NHS organisations. I then worked as a Materials Management Officer at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where I was responsible for ensuring the timely availability of medical supplies, managing inventory, supporting stock replenishment, and working closely with clinical and operational teams to maintain efficient healthcare supply chain operations.

After returning to India, I joined Sweet Karam Coffee as a Senior Executive – Planning. In this role, I am responsible for production planning, demand forecasting, inventory management, and coordinating with procurement, manufacturing, quality assurance, and logistics teams to ensure products are delivered efficiently while maintaining high service levels. I also support Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) by analysing demand trends, balancing supply with customer requirements, and optimising inventory and production schedules.

What are your ambitions for the future?

My ambition is to build a long-term career in global supply chain management, taking on roles with increasing strategic responsibility in planning, procurement, and end-to-end supply chain operations.

In the coming years, I aim to deepen my expertise in Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), demand planning, supply chain strategy, and digital transformation.

Would you recommend Leeds University Business School?
