Why did you choose to study Business Strategy and the Human Resource?
I chose to study Business Strategy and the Human Resource because I wanted a degree that gave me a broad understanding of how businesses work, while also focusing on the people behind them.
I’ve always been interested in how organisations are run, and I liked the idea of combining the commercial side of business with learning about leadership, motivation and managing people. I was aware of the opportunities that the University offered to put knowledge and theory into practice during a Year in Industry, and I’m glad I took that opportunity.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
Over the course of my degree, I was fortunate enough to meet some amazing people. The module and course leaders were incredibly inspiring and helpful, especially in my final year during my dissertation and exam period and I found the course content very interesting and tailored to the workplace.
What did you enjoy most about your life as a student at the University of Leeds?
I absolutely loved being a student at Leeds. I don’t think there are many better places in the world for a student to live. I spent my time living with friends and exploring what Leeds and the surrounding areas have to offer. I played football and tennis regularly, which was a great way to socialise and add some more structure to my weeks.
What professional skills and experience did you gain during your time at Leeds University Business School?
During my time at Leeds University Business School, I developed a range of professional skills that I now use in the workplace. Through presentations, group projects and written assignments, I improved my communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills, while research projects strengthened my ability to analyse information and make evidence-based recommendations.
How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School?
Since graduating in July 2025, I have started the Business Strategy Graduate Scheme at Sky, based in London. I have completed roles in Trading and Commercial Planning, and I’m currently in the process of choosing my second-year rotations. The job application process for graduate schemes was very testing and stressful, and it actually inspired my dissertation topic. Landing a graduate scheme at Sky was a very proud moment for me.
What are your ambitions for the future?
In the short term, I want to keep developing in my current role at Sky and become a more well-rounded professional. Beyond this, I hope to continue with Sky after the completion of my graduate scheme.
Would you recommend Leeds University Business School?
I’d absolutely recommend the University of Leeds to anybody. The Business School is held in high esteem, and rightfully so. My advice would be to embrace every opportunity that the University offers. Try to meet new people and, finally, get out and explore the amazing city.
