Tell us about your degree - why did you choose it? What elements of the degree inspired you to study it?
I chose to study the MSc Strategic Management in the Global Environment because it had a fantastic mix of innovation, technology and strategy modules. I have always been very passionate about how global companies formulate their innovation strategies to adjust to a dynamically changing environment and exploit opportunities emerging technology opportunities.

What was the best part of your studies here? What did you enjoy the most?
I loved the vibrant multicultural nature of the University, which gave me the opportunity to make a lot of great friends from all over the world. As students we were able to actively learn through case studies, group collaborations and interactive lectures. I also really enjoyed the world class academic level of the professors and program structure.

What were your career aspirations when you arrived? Do you think the experience and skills you gained here will help/helped you in your future career plans? In what way?
When I joined Leeds my career aspirations were to be able to work in teams within global companies on solving big business problems by using  innovative emerging technologies and business models. My degree has definitely helped me to develop and mature my analytical and strategic thinking and building a strong academic foundation has helped me succeed in my career.

How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School? Have there been any notable highlights?
Since graduating from Leeds my career has progressed very well. I have been able to co-found and start a successful tech startup together with business partners. I have also been able to pursue a successful career leading and delivering very complex technology and data science projects in a big global company (Shell), making real business impact.

Where are you currently working, and what is your role?
I am currently working for Shell as an IT Product Analyst, acting as a Product owner, Scrum Master and Business Analyst on big IT projects.

What are your ambitions for the future?
My career ambition is to lead high performing teams that use emerging technology and innovative business models that helps to solve our biggest climate and environmental problems. This might be by co-founding another startup or working as an intraprenaur in a big multinational enterprise

Do you think your experience and skills gained here will help you in your future career plans? In what way?
Yes my analytical and strategic thinking, academic foundation with world class thought leadership within strategy, innovation management and international business skills that I gained at Leeds have supported my career in IT project management and delivery.

If you are not from the UK, how was the transition to a foreign country? Did the university offer support or services that you found helpful? Can you offer any advice?
There was good support to ensure that my language levels were sufficient, and places to meet and get to know other international students. As I had done parts of my undergraduate year in the UK I had already adapted fairly well.

What was your impression/experience of the facilities, the staff, your peers, the student union, the City of Leeds and the region itself? What would you recommend to future students?
In general I had a very positive experience with the facilities, staff, my student peers and the city of Leeds. I loved the city and got to build some very good long lasting relationships

What would you say is your defining memory of studying here? (eg friendships made, confidence in your abilities, or any single event that you will always remember?) And would you recommend the Business School to others?
By challenging myself outside of my comfort zone, I grew and developed my confidence, academic capabilities and built very strong resilience and discipline that helped me to perform at a high level academically, and after I left Leeds, in my career. I also made a lot of great friends that I am still in contact with. I would definitely recommend LUBS.
