Research project
Assessing the relationship between perceptions of organisational support and wellbeing among NHS employees of BAME backgrounds
- Start date: 1 December 2020
- End date: 31 March 2021
- Principal investigator: Dr Ahmed Mostafa
- Co-investigators: Professor Lynda Song, Professor Andy Charlwood, Dr Aleksandra Irnazarow.
Description
COVID-19 disproportionately affected healthcare staff from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds. The NHS BAME talent pipeline, already limited due to existing racial inequalities, could be further impacted by COVID-19 with negative long-term impact on workforce diversity and service delivery issues, such as staff shortages or absences. Healthcare organisations need evidence-based knowledge to design wellbeing-enhancing human resource management (HRM) practices to support BAME employees during and following the pandemic.
This project will address new research activity and new collaborations with policymakers aimed at supporting evidence-based policy in the area of NHS staff wellbeing, diversity and inclusion
