Why did you choose to study this degree?

I studied an MSc in Global Strategy and Innovation Management at Leeds University Business School. Coming from a background in architecture, I witnessed first-hand how industries were rapidly evolving through digital transformation, emerging technologies, and new business models. I realised that the future was no longer shaped by technical expertise alone, but by the ability to lead innovation and drive strategic change.

I wanted a degree that would help me bridge the gap between technical knowledge, business strategy, and innovation. After researching different programmes, I found that the MSc in Global Strategy and Innovation Management at the University of Leeds offered exactly what I was looking for. The modules perfectly matched my ambitions, covering topics such as innovation management, global strategy, entrepreneurship, and strategic decision-making. It was the ideal combination of academic excellence and practical business insight.

What did you enjoy most about student life at Leeds?

One of the things I enjoyed most was the student community. Whether it was attending networking events, career workshops, cultural activities, or simply spending time with friends, there was always something happening on campus. These experiences helped me build lasting friendships and develop valuable communication and leadership skills. Leeds itself is a fantastic student city. It has a welcoming atmosphere, a lively social scene, and everything a student needs within easy reach. I also appreciated its central location in the UK, which made it easy to travel and explore other cities during weekends and university-organised day trips. Those experiences allowed me to discover different parts of the UK while creating unforgettable memories with classmates from around the world.

What professional skills and experience did you gain?

My time at Leeds University Business School helped me develop a strong combination of strategic thinking, problem solving, and leadership skills that continue to shape my career today. The MSc in Global Strategy and Innovation Management challenged me to analyse complex business problems from multiple perspectives and develop practical, innovative solutions. Working on case studies, research projects, and group assignments strengthened my ability to collaborate with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, which reflects the reality of today’s global workplace.

Perhaps the most valuable lesson I learned was how to think strategically while remaining adaptable. In today’s rapidly changing business environment, innovation is not only about technology. It is about understanding people, creating value, and leading change with confidence.

How did your time at Leeds prepare you for the future?

Studying at Leeds expanded the way I think about leadership, innovation, and business. It encouraged me to challenge assumptions, embrace different perspectives, and become comfortable solving complex problems in uncertain environments. The programme taught me that successful innovation happens when diverse ideas, disciplines, and cultures come together to solve challenges.

The experience also reinforced the importance of continuous learning. Technology, industries, and markets are evolving faster than ever, and Leeds gave me the mindset to embrace change rather than fear it. That mindset has helped me navigate different industries and leadership roles while remaining focused on creating positive impact through innovation and digital transformation.

How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School?

Since graduating, my career has continued to evolve around innovation, digital transformation, and strategic advisory. After completing my MSc, I had the opportunity to work with leading global organisations, helping governments and enterprises develop digital transformation strategies, innovation programmes, and smart city initiatives. These experiences allowed me to work on high impact projects across multiple sectors while collaborating with senior executives and public sector leaders.

Today, I serve as the Director of Innovation and Digital Transformation at Cisco in Saudi Arabia, where I help organisations accelerate their digital transformation journeys and shape future ready strategies through emerging technologies.

What are your ambitions for the future?

My ambition is to continue driving innovation at both organisational and national levels by helping governments and businesses leverage technology to solve complex challenges and improve people’s lives.

I aspire to become a recognised thought leader in digital transformation, innovation strategy, and smart cities while mentoring future leaders and supporting the next generation of innovators. I also hope to contribute to building sustainable, resilient, and digitally connected communities that create lasting social and economic impact.

The University of Leeds taught me that learning never stops, and I intend to continue challenging myself, embracing new opportunities, and making a positive difference wherever my career takes me.

What was your biggest highlight of studying at Leeds?

One memory I will always cherish is working alongside classmates from different countries and backgrounds. Every group project, discussion, and conversation gave me a new way of looking at the world.  I also have wonderful memories of exploring the UK with friends.

Yes! I would encourage prospective students to attend networking events, engage with lecturers, participate in university activities, and connect with people from different cultures and backgrounds. I would also encourage students to explore Leeds and the rest of the UK.
