A reputation for excellence
I first learned about Leeds University Business School (LUBS) through an online search while exploring top business schools in the UK. I was particularly impressed by the MSc in Consumer Analytics and Marketing Strategy course. To gain more insights, I attended a virtual open day hosted by the school. This event provided a comprehensive overview of the curriculum, facilities and extensive student support services, including personalised career coaching. I also reached out to alumni via LinkedIn, who shared their positive experiences, emphasising the course’s strong industry connections and practical approach to learning. The School's triple accreditation further reinforced my confidence in the quality of education and international recognition it offers. These interactions and research convinced me of LUBS’ commitment to fostering a supportive and innovative learning environment, making it an ideal place to pursue my studies.
My journey to Leeds
Completing my undergraduate at City University of Macao, China, I earned a BA in International Hospitality and Tourism Management. During my stint, I dove into top-tier business competitions worldwide, bagging some proud wins. These adventures truly jazzed up my academic ride, setting me up nicely for my next stop: LUBS.
A dynamic curriculum
The core themes such as consumer behavior analysis, marketing strategy, predictive analytics and retail modeling particularly stood out to me. They aligned perfectly with my career aspirations in marketing analytics, providing me with the essential knowledge and skills to thrive in the industry. Additionally, the emphasis on real-world application and hands-on experience in data analysis and marketing strategies inspired me. I'm excited about the opportunity to learn from experienced faculty members and collaborate with like-minded peers in an innovative learning environment.
An enriching journey
I've found the courses to be engaging and practical, providing me with valuable insights into the fast-paced world of marketing analytics. The school's facilities are top-notch, offering modern classrooms equipped with the latest technology, which enhances the learning experience. Moreover, the staff members are not only knowledgeable but also approachable and supportive, always willing to offer guidance and assistance.
A vibrant community of peers
Collaborating with classmates from diverse backgrounds has not only broadened my perspective but also enriched my learning experience through insightful discussions and group projects. Studying at LUBS is more than just attending classes; it's about immersing oneself in a supportive learning environment, surrounded by passionate peers and supported by dedicated staff, all while embracing the vibrant culture and opportunities of the city of Leeds.
Developing skills beyond the classroom
I actively participate in various extracurricular activities that enrich my university experience. One such endeavor is my involvement in the 'Team & Me' competition organised by LUBS. In this competition, I took on the role of project coordinator, ensuring smooth progress, task coordination and effective teamwork within our group. Our collective efforts paid off as we secured second position and were granted the opportunity to visit a major UK retailer, ASDA. This visit provided invaluable insights into the industry, deepening my understanding of retail dynamics. I’ve also volunteered at the Royal Armouries Museum on three occasions, where I assisted in managing entrance logistics and providing assistance to visitors. This role required strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with diverse audiences. Working closely with the museum's management team, I ensured the seamless execution of events, paying attention to detail and proactively addressing any issues that arose. Moreover, I'm passionate about community service and have volunteered with PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide in Leeds. I contributed to awareness campaigns aimed at raising understanding of mental health challenges and assisted in the development and implementation of intervention strategies to support at-risk individuals. These extracurricular activities have broadened my horizons and allowed me to positively impact my community while developing valuable skills beyond the classroom.
