How did you hear about the Business School and why did you choose to study here?
When researching my next steps to attain the best-quality education, it became my goal to study at a Russell Group university. I also looked at global rankings and Leeds is among the top 100 universities offering business-related courses.
I was attracted to Leeds as it is one of the universities operating on a single-site campus (that offers everything in one place), and the campus itself is beautiful. The course is appropriately structured as I was someone who had little coding experience but the teaching was structured well for those new to coding. I also really appreciated the one-on-one career development sessions, focusing on areas such as CV building and skills enhancement.
Tell us about your course - why did you choose it? What elements of the course inspired you to study here?
As someone who is fascinated by numbers, it has always been my dream to establish a career in analytics. This was my motivation to choose this course as I believe it gives me the right skills and competencies to developa career in analytics. I chose Leeds as it helps students to develop fundamental skills for those new to coding and programming languages.
What is the best part of your studies? What are you enjoying the most?
I enjoy attending seminars. It gives us an opportunity to practice our learnings with practical sessions.
If you are not from the UK, how was the transition to a foreign country? Did the University offer support or services that you found helpful? Can you offer any advice?
The transition can be difficult at first, but the University has always made me feel welcome. There were many events that Leeds University Union organised for freshers to get to know more people and then you can always join one of the many clubs and societies to build a social life.
What is your impression/experience of the facilities, the staff, your peers, the student union, the City of Leeds and the Yorkshire region?
The city is beautiful – a perfect mix of exciting yet calm. All the staff and students are very helpful, welcoming you with a smile and supporting you to problem solve. . Leeds University Union also does an amazing job.
Are there any experiences outside of your studies that you particularly enjoyed?
Working as a student ambassador for the outreach team gave me an opportunity to support school students to develop business proposals and I also had the opportunity to judge one of their school business challenges.
In addition, during my time at Leeds, I enjoyed attending Leeds Ball, and have loved visiting different parts of Yorkshire. There are so many places around Leeds that you can explore in a day which are budget friendly for a student, and help you relax and unwind after your studies.
What would you say your defining memory of studying here was?
I believe my time at Leeds has enhanced my skills and confidence. I've been in contact with so many people from all over the world – this has helped me understand different perspectives in life and business. This was my first time living away from family, but I have created my own family of friends here in Leeds.
