How did you hear about the Business School and why did you choose to study here? 

I knew I wanted to study my Masters in the UK, soshortlisted my preferred Universities for application. The University of Leeds and its Business School stood out to me because it is world ranked,triple-accredited and has great employability prospects. 

Before submitting my application, I went through my course modules to get a better understanding of what I would be studying, and reached out to alumni. Based on the alumni feedback and my career plans, I decided to pursue studying at the University of Leeds. 

Tell us about your course - why did you choose it? What elements of the course inspired you to study here? 

Digital technologies have been evolving rapidly and it is essential for businesses to effectively manage and transform their working methods to thrive in the market efficiently. The course modules included the right combination of in-depth knowledge of the core workings of digital information management, along with the strategic use of business models and project management methodologies.  

What is the best part of your studies? What are you enjoying the most? 

The professors and personal tutors are knowledgeable, approachable, and helpful. The University libraries are perfect for self-study as well as group work discussions and we have access to a wide range of academic resources.  

I got to take part in the Leaders in Residence Business Challenge which involved brainstorming solutions for a case study, which was very insightful. I am also a Student Ambassador at the Business School which has allowed me to share my experiences with prospective students. 

I enjoy attending events organized by Leeds University Union as they are good for helping balancing academic and recreational activities. As part of the University accommodation offering, I also get access to the campus gym, the Edge, and enjoy going to Zumba classes there. 

What are your career aspirations? Do you think the experience and skills you will gain on your course will help you in your future career plans? 

I am planning to pursue a career in business analysis and the skills and knowledge I gained as a student at the Business School have helped me understand business workings and management from a broader context. The University Careers Center is a good resource to hone your employability skills and seek support with job applications. 

Do you have any noteworthy achievements from your study at the Business School that you can tell us about?

I was pleased to be selected as a Student Ambassador for the Business School as it has allowed me to represent the school and share my experiences with prospective students from around the world. 

I was proud to achieve one of the highest scores in one of my modules – Managing Digital Information Projects. In addition, the interactive events and business challenges organized by the Business School have been very helpful. 

If you are not from the UK, how was the transition to a foreign country? Did the University offer support or services that you found helpful? Can you offer any advice? 

As an international student, the transition was smooth. Right from the airport pickup to settling down in my accommodation, the University was very supportive. Freshers' week and the events organized by Leeds University Union helped me meet other students. The University’s student support services provide practical guidance and wellbeing support – it's best   to make use of these services and ask for help whenever you need it. 

What is your impression/experience of the facilities, the staff, your peers, the student union, the City of Leeds and the Yorkshire region? 

I enjoyed the facilities at the University libraries, especially during assignment submissions and exam periods when they are open 24/7. The staff and my peers have been very helpful. I have made great friends here and the experience so far has been refreshing. Leeds is a beautiful city with a mix of quiet, beautiful places combined with the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s definitely a very student-friendly city. 

Are there any experiences outside of your studies that you particularly enjoyed? Eg participation in extracurricular activities or groups, nightlife, the region’s historic places of interest? 

During my time at Leeds, I valued taking part in the ‘Leaders in Residence’ Business Challenge event. Together with other students and professionals from the Leaders in Residence scheme, I worked on hypothetical case studies – an opportunity to apply learning to real-life scenarios. 

I also enjoyed taking part in the ‘Get Out Get Active’ scheme. My university accommodation organised various trips and visits, allowing me to experience more of the country. 

What would you say your defining memory of studying here was? 

I have a lot of memories and am still making them now: the friends I have made here, the experience of being a part of a diverse community, the “always happy to help” attitude of my tutors and professors, and the overall experience of being an international student and still feeling at home. 

Would you recommend the Business School to others who are considering studying here? 

Yes, definitely. It has been a life-changing experience so far. The opportunities have helped me evolve and I would recommend it to others thinking about Masters study.
