Tell us about your degree - why did you choose it? What elements of the degree inspired you to study it?
MSc Management Consulting has allowed me to turn my career aspirations into achievable objectives. Through the theoretical approach that is taken this programme develops analytical decision-making in a way that practical consulting experience alone could not. By taking into account the history of consultancy and through assessing multiple firms within the industry, this degree offers a uniquely sustainable and versatile consultancy skillset. The programme also develops the ability to execute typical consulting practices, strategies and approaches.
What was the best part of your studies here? What did you enjoy the most?
Access to members of staff who have had careers in management consulting themselves was a real highlight of the programme.
What were your career aspirations when you arrived? Do you think the experience and skills you gained here will help/helped you in your future career plans? In what way?
In the future I aim to setup my own consultancy firm and furthermore contribute towards the development of secondary education within the public sector. The grounding this degree presents will prove invaluable to both pursuits, as identifying trends and correlations within the broader picture is key to the success of both start-up establishment and traditional institutional development.
What are your ambitions for the future?
In the future I aim to setup my own consultancy firm and furthermore contribute towards the development of secondary education within the public sector.
What was your impression/experience of the facilities, the staff, your peers, the student union, the City of Leeds and the region itself? What would you recommend to future students?
Leeds is an excellent academic institution, with the Business School in particular standing out as a great place to learn. The staff are experts in their fields, the facilities cater to all students, and Leeds as a city offers so many opportunities outside of academia for students to grow and maintain a balanced lifestyle.
What would you say is your defining memory of studying here? (eg friendships made, confidence in your abilities, or any single event that you will always remember?) And would you recommend the Business School to others
My defining memory of studying within the Business School is the opportunities for growth and development that exist for students. The University and its staff support students in all of their pursuits related to academia, and those outside of it; whether that be funding granted by the School for student led societies, or staff support in entrepreneurial pursuits, it is evident that those who study at Leeds are cared for.
