How did you hear about the Business School and why did you choose to study here?

While researching in league tables, I came to know about Leeds University Business School. In my mind, I had 2 priorities for my Masters degree: One was a highly ranked Accounting and Finance division. Secondly, something that would make my Masters experience very different from other universities.

Leeds University Business School fulfilled my both the expectations, firstly it has an excellent reputation for Accounting and Finance and secondly it has a pool of diverse, talented and experienced faculty members.

What is the best part of your studies? What are you enjoying the most?

My experience at Leeds University Business School has been spectacular. As a postgraduate student, I have the opportunity to use facilities that enhance my academic experience, such as collaborative teaching spaces, which means I can interact with my lecturers and work with my fellow students using digital technology. My course has a lot of variety, and includes workshops, practical assignments and presentations, which have all developed my confidence.

What are your career aspirations? Do you think the experience and skills you will gain on your course will help you in your future career plans? In what way?

My goal is to become a financial analyst or a portfolio manager in an investment fund company. This is a 2-step process: firstly to pursue a finance degree from a well-known UK university, and secondly to achieve professional Charted Financial Analyst certification.

Whilst studying my MSc Accounting and Finance at Leeds, I am also covering a number of segments of the CFA exam, which will help me achieve chartered status even quicker.

Do you have any noteworthy achievements from your study at the Business School that you can tell us about?

I believe the following to be my achievements at University of Leeds Business School:

1. Recipient of Dean's International Excellence Scholarship (2018-19)

2. Link to Leeds Ambassador

3. Course Representative of Accounting and Finance Division

What is your impression/experience of the facilities, the staff, your peers, the student union, the City of Leeds and the Yorkshire region?

Leeds University Union is a great place that has offered me a number of opportunities, including workshops, music and art competitions, the chance to join hundreds of interesting societies, and fun events such as British tea parties. Leeds is also a beautiful city and a peaceful place to shop, eat, work and live.

What would you say your defining memory of studying here was?

I am very proud to be a part of Leeds University Business School. I have made very good friends from different cultural backgrounds i.e. from Leeds, Korea, China and Nigeria.
