Tell us about your degree - why did you choose it? What elements of the degree inspired you to study it?
I studied a MA in Advertising and Marketing. This degree offered a wide range of courses that covered main topics in marketing, e.g. digital marketing, event marketing, PR, advertising, consumer behaviour, internet marketing, and international marketing.

What was the best part of your studies here? What did you enjoy the most?
This degree provided a variety of group activities, which allowed us to gain extensive team work experiences within one academic year. The group exercises had a focus on solving practical issues. It was very beneficial for students to understand how to apply knowledge and skills to actual business situations. I had a great time by working with my team members on every group project.

How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School? Have there been any notable highlights?
I continued studying a doctoral degree in Management and Financial Studies after leaving the business school and successfully completed the degree in 2016. Also, I have been teaching several marketing courses to both post graduates and undergraduates while doing my research. The learning experience in Leeds University Business School largely helped me with the class design of my own teaching.

Where are you currently working, and what is your role?
I am currently a senior teaching fellow in SOAS, University of London.

If you are not from the UK, how was the transition to a foreign country? Did the university offer support or services that you found helpful? Can you offer any advice?
The university did a fantastic job in helping international students to adapt our lives in the UK. The student union provided us with regular trips to different places all over the UK, which was extremely helpful for us to learn local cultures and enjoy the beautiful views of the country. The university also had a wonderful international students community that encouraged people from different parts of the world to share knowledge and experiences together.

What was your impression/experience of the facilities, the staff, your peers, the student union, the City of Leeds and the region itself? What would you recommend to future students?
I am very happy with the facilities and people in the university. The staff are very caring towards the students. I felt well supported while studying there. The university is also well located in the city of Leeds, which offered the students easy access to the city center and other basic facilities such as banks, post offices, parks, and supermarkets. The best thing of living in Leeds was that I could enjoy the stunning countryside views of Yorkshire on our door steps!

What would you say is your defining memory of studying here? (eg friendships made, confidence in your abilities, or any single event that you will always remember?) And would you recommend the Business School to others
After my experience at Leeds University Business School, I will definitely recommend it to future students. It is a great institution that equips students with advanced knowledge, practical skills, and team work experiences. It is also a dynamic place that offers top-class leisure activities and international experiences. Students are guaranteed to have a meaningful, productive and memorable life in the business school!
