How did you hear about the Business School and why did you choose to study here?
I came to Leeds during my gap year, that's how I heard about LUBS. Leeds is a great and lively city. The Business School has an excellent reputation and enabled me to broaden my career prospects and international experiences.
Tell us about your course - why did you choose it? What elements of the course inspired you to study here?
I developed a strong interest in strategy during my undergrad and my year studying in the USA. After an undergraduate degree in Business and Management, I wanted to specialise and get more expertise in this particular area. The MSc Strategic Management in the Global Environment is one of few courses that offers exciting topics.
What is the best part of your studies? What are you enjoying the most?
I really enjoyed being in this course as the classes are small, but full of students from many different countries. It is so enriching to have the opportunity to work with people from around the world.
What are your career aspirations? Do you think the experience and skills you will gain on your course will help you in your future career plans? In what way?
I would like an international career in strategy or business change. I want to be involved with the decision-making within the higher levels of a company. This course really helped me get an overview of a business and of corporate strategy which will definitely help me in future opportunities.
If you are not from the UK, how was the transition to a foreign country? Did the University offer support or services that you found helpful? Can you offer any advice?
I came to Leeds a year before the course started during my gap year so the transition was quite easy. I was well settled before the course started.
Are there any experiences outside of your studies that you particularly enjoyed? Eg participation in extra-curricular activities or groups, nightlife, the regions' historic places of interest?
I took part in the "Gryphons Abroad" charity programme with which I am going to South Africa in June for two weeks. I fundraised more than £2000 over the year for the project and got to organise many things such as a Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge with my classmates in order to get donations. It has been an incredible experience!
What would you say your defining memory of studying here was? (eg friendships made, confidence in your abilities, or any single event that you will always remember?)
The friendships I have made with my classmates. I have met incredible people during this course and we all helped each other out all year.
Would you recommend the Business School to others who are considering studying here?
I would indeed since I really enjoyed my time here.
