How did you hear about the Business School and why did you choose to study here? 

I knew I wanted to study Consulting in the UK so I started by looking online for Masters courses that suited my needs and interests. I was familiar with the University of Leeds name as I heard about the experiences of friends and relatives who studied at Leeds. Also, I spoke to alumni and got great insight into the University and the city which helped me decide to study at Leeds University Business School. 

Tell us about your course - why did you choose it? 

I always wanted to study a specialised Masters and after working in multinational firms, I decided to pursue a degree in Consulting. 

When I was going through the course modules, it was clear that this is what I was looking for, covering practical and theoretical approaches to consulting. From creative thinking to problem solving, building strategy to launching a start-up, all of these are covered along with working on a dissertation project in a company to gain practical exposure. 

What is the best part of your studies? 

The best part is meeting different people from around the world and getting to know different cultures.  

I got the opportunity to work with a start-up consultancy firm for my dissertation project and was able to gain practical knowledge of the consultancy industry. 

The support provided by my Professional Development Tutor is really helpful. She helped me with reviewing, building my CV as per the UK format, along with providing assistance in applying for job placements. 

What are your career aspirations? Do you think the experience and skills you will gain on your course will help you in your future career plans?

I want to work as a Management Consultant in a consulting firm. The professional experience I carry combined with the skills and experience I have gained from this course will help me in the consulting industry. I have gained skills and experience by working on consulting pro-bono projects and my dissertation project. I have received good feedback from the companies for my pro-bono projects which gives me confidence to work on projects in the future. 

If you are not from the UK, how was the transition to a foreign country? Did the University offer support or services that you found helpful? 

I am from India and the transition to Leeds was very smooth. The University guides you through the entire transition and the accommodation team is great, providing flexible check in to suit your needs. At every stage of my studies, I have been receiving support from various staff via email. 

Are there any experiences outside of your studies that you particularly enjoyed?

A highlight for me was a class organised hiking trip where we all invited our friends from different courses. It was great fun and there were quite a few singers and musicians in the group to entertain us! I have made good friends from my class with whom I enjoy Leeds’ night life. I have played Holi with my Indian friends and hosted a Holi social event with all our professors.  

Would you recommend the Business School to others who are considering studying here? 

I would highly recommend Leeds University Business School to consider for your studies if you want to gain a professional degree.
