How did you hear about the Business School and why did you choose to study here?

I came to Leeds in 2016 to study the English language as a foreign language before I commenced a MSc and PhD in the field of Management Information System (MIS). My plan was to study the English course in Leeds before moving to another city to start my academic studies. However, I met a student who was studying the same programme that I was interested in, he talked about his experience which had an influence on my decision. After that, I started to search for more information about the Business School and my programme and I found that the school ranking is high, and the modules are interesting. I also liked the city, Leeds is a very nice city and has a great location. All of the above encouraged me to study my degree here.

Tell us about your course - why did you choose it? What elements of the course inspired you to study here?

My journey with this course started with my bachelor degree. I found the subject interesting as it gives you a mix of management and technology experience. What I found inspiring, is the how the course is designed to support you with different skills. For example, we had a module called commercial and professional skills which was a different module to what most of my classmates had studied before. The module allows the students to work with an organisation within the university as a group which will develop new skills.

If you are not from the UK, how was the transition to a foreign country? Did the University offer support or services that you found helpful? Can you offer any advice?

Moving to a new country is not an easy thing to do. However, if you have a goal and the determination, you will pass this period of time and it will be one of the best memory you have. Honestly, I did not communicate with the University for any support, but I'm sure they would supported me if I needed anything.

What is your impression/experience of the facilities, the staff, your peers, the student union, the City of Leeds and the Yorkshire region?

Well, my first impression is great. I was living in a homestay with a British family who gave me a good impression. I also found that the people at the university are helpful.

Leeds, this is something interesting to talk about. I feel an honour that I'm studying in this amazing city. The city is multinational and really helps current students to get engaged with different activities.

What would you say your defining memory of studying here was? (eg friendships made, confidence in your abilities, or any single event that you will always remember?)

I'm sure this experience would be one of the best memories. Although the course is very challenging, I tried to enjoy myself, getting to know different people. The teaching staff are friendly as well and encourage you to hope for the best.

Would you recommend the Business School to others who are considering studying here?

Yes, absolutely I would recommend it. However, I would also say that you need to be able to work very hard because it is not easy to get a good grade unless you study hard.
