Professor Gall discusses P&O mass sacking with BBC
CERIC visiting fellow, Professor Gregor Gall discusses the recent mass sacking of P&O workers, the legalities around it and what may happen next.
The ferry firm sparked outrage last week when 800 of its crew members were told unexpectedly – many by video link – that it was their final day of employment.
Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland’s morning news programme on 19 March, Professor Gall commented:
The owners of P&O are one of the richest employers in the world given where their source of income comes from, so the argument that the company was pleading poverty is not a particularly convincing one.
The recording is available on BBC Sounds and the clip begins at approximately 1 hr 43 mins.
