2022 CERIC Annual Doctoral Conference - Call for Papers
The Centre for Employment Relations, Innovation and Change (CERIC) warmly invites postgraduate researchers at all stages to the 2022 CERIC Doctoral Conference 'Work in a Changing World'.
The Centre for Employment Relations, Innovation and Change (CERIC), based at the University of Leeds is one of the largest interdisciplinary groups of social scientists working in the field of work and employment in the UK. CERIC warmly invites postgraduate researchers at all stages to the 2022 CERIC Doctoral Conference, to be held online on Friday 20th May 2022.
Work in the post-pandemic era is constantly changing increasingly quickly and unpredictably. The upheaval, accelerated not only by COVID-19 but also by ongoing digitalization, climate change, and shifts in the global economy, is reshaping the material nature of work and redefining its meaning for many people. People’s working lives are becoming more and more unpredictable: how will we work, live, and flourish in this changing world? What are the most remarkable challenges we face? Will our societies return to “normal”, or have post-pandemic normalities altered forever? Is either the old normal or the new normal sustainable?
The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Work in a Changing World’ in a hybrid mode. We warmly welcome abstracts from postgraduate researchers at all stages who wish to present their work either online or in person.
In the face of crises like the pandemic and the climate crisis, how must organisations, workers, and governments respond? This conference invites abstracts that examine issues of work and employment from a range of disciplinary perspectives. We are particularly interested in topics related to:
- Social inequalities, voice, and representation (ethnicity, disability, age, gender, and class) within the post-pandemic world of work
- Human resource management and organisational behaviour in the workplace
- Digital technologies for future work under the impact of pandemic and climate change
- How work is being transformed (or, how it could or should be transformed) by crises such as climate breakdown and the Covid-19 pandemic
CERIC is pleased to award three prizes, consisting of £300 for first place, £200 for second place, and £100 for third place to cover attendance at a leading conference of the PhD students’ choice.
Abstracts should be up to 500 words and the deadline is 30th April 2022. Please submit your abstracts via email - cericphd@leeds.ac.uk and kindly specify whether you wish to attend online or in person.
