Dr Jana Javornik comments in The Independent
On 20 November Dr Jana Javornik commented in an article published in The Independent titled ‘Equal Pay Day 2020: What is the gender pay gap and how is it different from equal pay?’.
The article explores how, despite the fact that unequal pay is now illegal, the gender pay gap – the percentage difference between the average hourly earnings for men and women – persists.
Speaking about how the gender pay gap is calculated, Dr Javorvik explained that companies must report their gender pay gap in terms of six figures include: mean gender pay gap, median gender pay gap, mean bonus gender pay gap, median bonus gender pay gap, proportion of males and females receiving a bonus payment, and proportion of males and females in each quartile band.
