Professor Danat Valizade presents at APPG on the Future of Work

Professor Danat Valizade spoke at the APPG on the Future of Work, discussing regional innovation and new findings on how AI adoption affects pay and inequality.

On 9 December 2025, Professor Danat Valizade joined the latest session of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on the Future of Work, ‘Good jobs and regional growth: Building inclusive innovation systems’.

The panel- chaired by Lord Jim Knight and including Georgina Maratheftis (Associate Director for Local Public Services, techUK), Josie Crescent-Moon (People and Place Ambassador, East Marsh United), Eve Navias (Head of Politics, Community Union), Professor Chris Warhurst (Director, Warwick Institute for Employment Research), and Professor Valizade- discussed how to build regional innovation ecosystems that support local economic development and sustain good work, to deliver for people right across the UK.

Professor Valizade highlighted new research with Dr Felix Schulz, Professor Mark Stuart, Dr Magdalena Soffia, and Professor Jolene Skordis looking at how AI use at work influences pay.

They found:

  •  AI adoption and use are positively associated with pay
  • Lower-skilled workers benefit disproportionally – but only when AI is deeply integrated into their work
  • In workplaces where employees are consulted, or negotiate, distribution of AI pay gains is more equitable
