10 year anniversary of the Nurturing Talent Mentor Scheme

May 2023 saw the Business School’s Nurturing Talent Mentor Scheme (NTMS) celebrate its 10th anniversary with a networking event and awards ceremony in Parkinson Court.

The event to commemorate a decade of mentoring brought together a wide range of mentees, mentors and staff and was the first large scale in-person event since 2019, and was a huge success.

The event was opened by Executive Dean, Professor Julia Bennell, who presented awards for Mentee and Mentor of the Year, Relationship of the Year, and a number of outstanding contributions, including to mentors who have been involved since the early days of the NTMS back in 2011.

The celebration successfully highlighted the incredible achievements of the NTMS and recognised the tireless efforts of mentors and mentees alike. It served as a reminder of the profound impact mentoring can have on personal and professional growth.

Moreover, the event fostered networking opportunities, allowing students to connect with experienced professionals, showcasing the ongoing commitment of the University to mentoring

NTMS Coordinator Dan Conneely, from the Mentoring and Widening Participation Team, said of the event;

It was fantastic to deliver an in-person Celebration Event after the challenges we, and our mentees and mentors, have faced since the last large-scale event in 2019. The sheer quality and enthusiasm of the award nominations we received demonstrates that mentoring is in an incredibly strong place, allowing our students to thrive with the support of our ever growing pool of professional mentors.
