Dr Costas Lambrinoudakis

Profile

Dr Costas Lambrinoudakis is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Leeds University Business School. Before joining LUBS, he worked as an Adjunct Lecturer of Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business in Greece. He also lectured on corporate finance, financial management, international finance and banking in various undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University of Piraeus, University of Athens, and University of West Attica. Before entering academia, he worked at the Division of Research & Forecasting of Eurobank Group, where his research helped guide investment and strategy decisions.

Research

Costas’s main research interests include Social Networks and Finance, Corporate Finance, and Big Data Applications in Finance.

Costas's research focuses on two main areas. The first area explores social networks, focusing on how social interactions influence outcomes in corporate finance and asset pricing. Specifically, his work investigates the role of social media in shaping the decision-making of investors and consumers. Given the growing influence of social media on human behaviour, understanding how these networks and their most impactful users affect financial and economic variables – such as consumption, investment decisions, and the prices of financial and real assets – is of significant value to academics, practitioners, and policymakers. Costas’s research on this area exhibits a high level of granularity, leveraging big data such as clickstream data or information extracted from social media accounts.

The second area of Costas's research examines the financing policies of firms and the broad range of factors that influence them, ranging from firm-specific characteristics, such as managers' expectations and employee satisfaction, to macroeconomic or structural aspects, such as the level of financial development in the economy. By shedding light on the complex and interconnected factors shaping financial policies, his work aims to help corporate managers make more informed decisions. This, in turn, can facilitate sustainable growth and improved resource allocation for firms and thereby benefit all their stakeholders.
