We’re delighted to welcome distinguished speaker Professor Phil Wood, Chief Executive of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, in the next event in our 'Corporate Wisdom' series.
With an esteemed career spanning over two decades at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Phil brings a wealth of experience in operational and strategic leadership. Phil will discuss his lifetime in healthcare from ward to board, as well as leading through complexity and change. He’ll also look to the future, discussing the challenges in meeting healthcare needs and the technological advancement that will help us address this.
Phil’s roles have included Clinical Director for Pathology and Oncology, Medical Director for Strategy and Planning, and Chief Medical Officer. Notably, he was Senior Responsible Officer during the initial rollout of the Covid-19 vaccination programme in West Yorkshire and chairs the North East and Yorkshire Genomic Medicine Service Board.
During this time he has been a champion and advocate of a continuous improvement approach to healthcare and over the past decade has worked with the Virginia Mason Institute to help develop the Trust’s improvement system, the Leeds Improvement Method.
In November 2022, he was awarded an Honorary Professorship in Healthcare Leadership by the University of Leeds, recognising his leadership contributions across education and training, research, innovation and improvement.
