The crisis of international finance for developing nations

Professor Gary Dymski, Professor of Applied Economics at Leeds University Business School, explores the evolution of the global macroeconomic system, focusing on the situation of developing economies from the 1980s to the present. He will show how the dynamic of financial globalization is rooted in the asymmetric structures of global power. The recent financial crises in the US and Europe, which rippled through the rest of the world economy, demonstrated the fragility of the current systems of financial governance and crisis response. What then are the choices for developing nations within this evolving global system, and how can these countries finance sustainable development strategies to confront climate change, in an adverse and unstable global economic environment?

There is no charge for this event but places are limited and offered on a first come first served basis.

Students who have applied to study at the University of Leeds will also have the opportunity to attend this event. We hope that alumni will be able to offer first-hand knowledge, advice and expertise to applicants and help answer any questions that they may have about living and studying in Leeds, during the networking session.

Members of the British Business Group (BBG) in India will also be attendance. The BBG promotes business between India and the UK.
