MA Advertising and Design student wins opportunity to work with a Dragon

Olivia Duff (MA Advertising and Design), was part of the winning team at this year’s Two+Two Event, which sees students work alongside industry mentors from creative agencies on a live brief.

Organised by Manchester-based marketing and creative recruitment agency, Creative Resource, the event brought together 200 marketing students from over 16 universities.

The winning team from five northern universities impressed the judges with their response to this year’s challenge which focused on data for good and sustainability in transport. It was set by headline sponsor Wejo, a Manchester-based connected vehicle data software solutions provider.

The prize included the opportunity to spend a day with Social Chain founder and Dragon's Den investor, Steven Bartlett.

According to Oliva:

Two + Two was such a good day! The task was challenging, as was suddenly working with so many people from so many different academic disciplines and backgrounds, but I think that is the beauty of the day – we get to build upon, challenge and learn from each other.

“The brief was a new concept that none of us had ever really experienced before, but the idea of Wejo’s ‘data for good’ really resonated with us, and it was a human truth that we used throughout the development of our campaign.

“I was and am honoured to have been chosen as winners, and I am thoroughly looking forward to working with Wejo to make our campaign come to life! Not to mention how excited I am to spend the day with Steven Bartlett. All in all, it was a super insightful and fun day – and I think myself very lucky to have had the opportunity. Go Green Roosters!”

As well as spending time with the Dragons Den investor, the winning team will also have their final ideas displayed on the 2nd largest digital billboard in Europe, the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester.

Olivia worked alongside fellow team members: Taylor Orford, Leeds Arts University; Rory O’Moore, Manchester Metropolitan University; Jiaqi (Veronica) Rong, University of Central Lancashire and Ashwini Kelkar, Lancaster University.
