Dr Aleksandra Irnazarow

Profile

I am a Lecturer in Information Management working on the interface between information systems and organisational behaviour.

My research focuses on understanding information practices and decision making in collaborative environments and how these are impacted by new technologies. A major output of my research has been the development of a framework that addresses these complex questions in engineering product development through the novel application of Activity Theory. I have also successfully applied my expertise to aiding police organisations using data analytics technologies to inform operational decisions. More recently, I have applied my methodological knowledge to questions of equality, diversity, and inclusion in health services and to investigate the use and benefits of barcoding and tracking technologies in NHS hospitals in the UK.

Research interests

My core interests are in developing new interdisciplinary methodologies based on sociotechnical approaches and activity theory, applicable to datafication and digital transformation of organisations, institutions, and society. My research has been successfully applied to numerous contexts, including policing, healthcare, and high-value engineering. I strive to conduct impactful research which benefits the regional economy and contributes to strengthening the links between the University of Leeds and local communities and institutions.
