Professor Muhammad Moshfique Uddin

Profile

Moshfique has been teaching for a number years now at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. He taught at the University of York and Leeds Metropolitan University before joining the University of Leeds. He has also taught in various other countries such as Bangladesh and China.

Moshfique has been active in doing research in the area of Accounting and Finance. He has published a number of research papers in various internationally reputed journals. He also has published a book on Cross-border Mergers and Acquisitions. Moshfique regularly presents his research at various international conferences. He won best paper award at BAM Conference in Brighton, UK and also at the ASCENT International Conference in Malaysia.

Moshfique has been active in supervising both PhD and MSc students. He has successfully supervised seven PhD students to completion and continuing supervising research students. He regularly acts as internal and external examiner at PhD level. He also acts as external expert for both UG and PG programmes for universities here in the UK and abroad. Moshfique has acted as lead organiser for BAM Corporate Governance SIG conference held at LUBS in June 2018. He also worked as a member of scientific committee for EFMA conference in Portugal in 2017.

Moshfique is currently working as a Senior Editor – Finance at International Journal of Emerging Markets and also a member of editorial board for Journal of Knowledge Management. He also worked as a guest editor for an special issue of China Financial Review International. Moshfique has been active in various administrative duties such as deputy director of PG programme, member of ethics committee, research committee and special cases committee.

Research interests

Moshfique's research interest revolves around Corporate Finance and Corporate Restructuring, Macroeconomic policies and Stock Markets, Internationalisation and Financing of SMEs in Emerging Countries and financial education and stock market development. He is also doing research to explore the role of various institutions in emerging markets on finance and investments.

Student education

Moshfique has been teaching various finance modules at both UG and PG levels. He has taught modules like Foundations of Finance, Financial Management, Corporate Finance, Security Investment Analysis, Financial Strategy and Governance. Currently he is teaching Financial Derivatives and Portfolio Risk Management. Moshfique is very passionate about teaching and always cares about student experience. He has won prestigious Deans Award for Teaching Excellence in three consecutive years (2015, 2016 and 2017). He also holds the title of Certified Management & Business Educator (CMBE) accredited by Chartered Accociation of Business Schools.
