A One day conference on strategic responses to disruptive innovation, organised by Leeds University Business School on 11 July 2017.
What do you do if your product is a world leader but all of a sudden no one wants to buy it? This might sound unlikely, but who would have thought a decade ago that Nokia would lose its position in the mobile phone market, or two decades ago that Kodak would disappear as a global consumer product company after dominating the world photographic film market for most of the 20th century. This is called ‘disruptive innovation’ and it applies not only to products but services too. It is hard to deny that we are living in the age of disruption, defined broadly as fundamental changes that re-order the way in which organizations and their business environments operate to create and appropriate value.
Innovation and technology development are no longer the sole responsibility of R&D or Technology departments. Innovation is a much more open and collaborative process and many managers have a role in managing relationships to make sure their business stays ahead of game and doesn’t get caught out. New business models are being developed to meet the challenges of rapidly developing technological change.
Join Leeds University Business School at their Strategic Responses to Disruptive Innovation conference to hear from key industry experts and join discussions on a topic vital for business competitiveness, growth and international position.
