Nigerian alumni celebrate life after Leeds
Leeds alumni in Nigeria met in both Abuja and Lagos this May to celebrate their ‘Life after Leeds’.
Graduates from both the Business School and the University of Leeds shared their career journeys to fellow alumni and prospective students in these interactive panel sessions.
In Abuja, the alumni panel included Sneha Bose, project manager and consultant; Dr Osasuyi Dirisu, a public health specialist and founder of Research Hub Africa; Oyebankole Agbelusi, Environmental and Social development expert, currently working on Transforming Irrigation Management in Nigeria Project (a Government of Nigeria and World Bank financed project), Mr Gbenga Erin, geographic information system analyst, ECOWAS Commission; and Dr Adeola Grace Olugbenga, lecturer at the Federal University of Technology Minna.
In Lagos, graduates heard from Akinwale Abidukan, an entrepreneur and currently the President and CEO of Bluemart Realty Group; Oyinloluwa Akeredolu, a Brand and Research Officer for Inspiration 92.3FM; Etta Akeem Olakunle, an internal control professional in Polaris Bank Limited; Chibuzo Okereke, a Project Engineer in the Training and Simulation division of Aveva; Busayo Longe, co-founder and team lead at Formplus (www.formpl.us), helping organisations gather business data; and Emeritus Prof Olusoga A Sofola.
The events were well attended and there were interesting discussions about how to continue and strengthen the alumni community in Nigeria.
