Profile

My academic journey has spans almost 15 years, beginning with an undergraduate degree in Geography, followed by a Master’s in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and an Integrated MSc and PhD in Data Analytics and Society.

Since completing my studies, I have held research positions at both the University of Liverpool and the University of Leeds, contributing to resarch, teaching, and interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of data, place, and society.

Research interests

My research interests centre on understanding inequalities and how they are shaped by place, opportunity, and social change. Early in my academic career, I explored access to greenspace through my undergraduate and Master's research, before developing new methods to identify and predict neighbourhood change through processes of gentrification during my doctoral studies. Across this work, I have been particularly interested in how neighbourhoods evolve and the socio-spatial inequalities experienced by their residents.

More recently, my research has focused on environmental justice and equitable access to greenspace. As part of the GreenAWARE project, I worked with underserved communities across Leeds and Bradford to understand barriers to accessing green spaces. Through this work, questions of gender inequality emerged as a significant area of interest.

Building on this strand of research, I am currently working with Dr Su Jung Jee to investigate gender inequalities experienced by women scientists and engineers, on the SSHRC-funded project titled Gender dynamics in science and technology systems.
