Dr. Selorm Agbleze

Profile

Selorm Agbleze (PhD, FHEA) is a Lecturer in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship at Leeds University Business School. His research and teaching focus on entrepreneurship, strategy, and the informal economy. He holds a PhD in Strategy and Entrepreneurship from Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, as well as an MPhil and BSc (Hons) from the University of Ghana. Before joining Leeds University Business School, he served as Ghana Country Coordinator for the Social Innovation Research Lab at the Schulich School of Business, York University, Canada, and held a lecturing position at Ghana Communication Technology University.

Research interests

Selorm's research examines entrepreneurial and organizational decision-making in complex institutional environments, with a particular focus on the informal economy. Drawing on the behavioural theory of the firm, institutional theory, and concepts of social embeddedness, he investigates how boundedly rational decision-makers navigate competing institutional demands and constraints. His recent work focuses on the formalization decisions of informal firms, seeking to advance understanding of when, why, and how firms transition between informal and formal modes of operation. Employing diverse data sources and methodological approaches, his research develops and tests a behavioural perspective on firm formalization and contributes to broader debates in entrepreneurship, strategy, and informal economy research.
