Profile
Dr. Chu joined the University of Leeds as a Research Fellow in the Department of Economics, working for the Yorkshire and Humber Policy Engagement and Research Network (Y-PERN) funded by Research England. She received her PhD in Economics and MSc in Economics and Finance from the University of Leeds.
As an applied microeconomist, her research focuses on entrepreneurship and SMEs, with particular attention to the determinants of small business growth, firm innovation, and the role of local institutional environments in shaping firm performance.
She has published her research in several academic journals, including the Journal of World Business (ABS‑4), European Management Review (ABS-3), and Energy Economics (ABS‑3). Her research has gained international recognition, including Best Paper awards at the Academy of International Business (AIB) conference. She has also acted as a short-term consultant at the United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
