Within the literature, entrepreneurial firms have long been associated with exhibiting ‘entrepreneurial’ characteristics such as risk-seeking behaviour, innovativeness, and proactivity. While entrepreneurs often increase their firm’s international activities along unexpected lines of reasoning without having precise goals, they have been observed to achieve rapid internationalization. Despite much progress within the field, our understanding of entrepreneurial decision making remains limited regarding the influence of cultural traits and the risk perception on the process of strategy formulation. In my research, I explore the influences that culture may have on risk perception of entrepreneurs and the implications on decision-making and strategy formulation.
