Nicola is a PhD Candidate in the Work Employment Relations Department of Leeds University Business School where she started her research in February 2023, studying part-time. Currently, the focus of her PhD is the impact of culture on work design. The catalyst for her research was a desire to understand the labour markets that the postgraduate international students she taught would return home to.
Nicola has a research interest in work design and the impact of culture, country and industry context. Her work explores the competencies required to thrive in the workplace, in particular focussing on early career professionals. Besides her current project, she is also interested in work-ready competencies including those related to entrepreneurship. She is also part of a research project designed to understand intractable conflict diversity amongst culturally diverse start-up teams.
