Profile
Victoria Antonio (She/Her) is a third-year PhD Student at the University of Leeds Business School in the Work and Employment Relations Department. Her PhD study “Outsourcing Digital Intimate Labour” looks at the emergent types of work, labour relations and digital ecosystems of online Adult Content Creation in which elements of intimate labour are being digitally outsourced. The study is currently in the data collection and analysis phase.
Victoria is an interdisciplinary, qualitative researcher. She has a BA in Photography and New Media Journalism from the University of West London and an MSc in Psychology from the University of East London. Victoria has an employment background in visual media, mainly in lighting for photography, film, and TV but also in studio management and shoot production.
Research interests
Victoria’s research interests include platforms, intimate labour, parasocial labour, sex work, infrastructures, digital ecosystems, technologies and markets for intimacies, the gig economy, precarious labour, social media and influencer cultures, the creative economy, visual media, visual methodologies, and the future of work.
