Professor Kevin Keasey conferred as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences

Kevin Keasey is a Professor of Accounting and Finance, and Director of the International Banking Institute and the Centre for Advanced Studies in Finance here at the Business School.

The Academy of Social Sciences brings together leading social scientists from academia and the public, private and third sectors whose work addresses some of the most pressing challenges facing society, communities and economies.

Fellowship of the Academy is awarded following a rigorous peer-review process, and recognises individuals whose research excellence, leadership and sustained contributions have significantly advanced the social sciences and delivered clear public benefit.

The Fellowship recognises Professor Keasey’s contributions to the subject areas of accounting, banking and finance. His research spans four decades and examines how individuals, firms and markets operate under conditions of uncertainty and imperfect information. Major strands of his work include finance and market behaviour, corporate governance and ownership structures, banking risk and financial stability, and climate finance and environmental governance.

Commenting on the award, Professor Keasey said:

It is a great honour to be elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. I am delighted to receive this recognition from colleagues across the social sciences and to join a community committed to demonstrating the value of social science for society and public policy.

Professor Keasey was also recently awarded the 2025 Distinguished Academic Award by the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA).
