Greece finalist in British Council Study UK Alumni Awards

Michail Marinakis (Business Management with Marketing, 2024) has been named a finalist in the British Council Study UK Alumni Awards in the social action category.
The awards recognise the outstanding achievements of alumni who have made a significant and lasting impact in their respective fields. The social action category celebrates individuals who have made an exceptional contribution and commitment to driving positive change and improving the lives of others.
Michail has been recognised for his efforts in organising the ‘2024 FIRST Global Challenge’ in Greece - one of the world’s largest youth robotics competitions. The event brought together over 3,000 students from 193 countries, uniting young people to tackle global challenges through robotics and technology while fostering international collaboration and innovation.
Reflecting on his achievement, Michail said: “I am honoured to be named a finalist in the Social Action category for the British Council Study UK Alumni Awards. It’s an incredible privilege to be recognised alongside such inspiring and talented graduates, and I’m grateful for the support of the Business School and the wider University of Leeds community. This recognition inspires me to continue making a positive impact and I look forward to celebrating my achievements at the awards ceremony".
Award winners and finalists are leaders in their fields who have used their experience of studying at a UK university to make a positive contribution to their communities, professions and countries.
The winners of this year’s awards will be announced at an exclusive awards ceremony in Athens on the 5 March 2025, where Michail and other finalists will be recognised for their exceptional achievements.
